‘Tuesdays with Dorie’ has been around for about 4 years now and has just finished Baking through Dorie Greenspan’s first book ‘Baking:From My Home To Yours’. Unfortunately I could not be a part of this group earlier but, I did purchase the book and tried loads of delicious recipes.
February is the start of a new baking adventure for this group where they will baker their way through Dorie Greenspan’s latest book ‘Baking with Julia’. The news is that I am part of this new adventure. I am really looking forward to bake along with other bloggers. I highly recommend that you guys buy both these books. I consider these books the most priced possession of mine and I am sure you will too.
This weeks recipe are the ‘White Loaves’. This was my first time to make bread at home and it turned out to be perfect. This recipe is a must try for baker who want to try something beyond the regular cookies and cakes. It was a little challenging for me because I tend to get a nervous while working with yeast but these loaves rose beautifully and had this light and airy texture. It was way too easy than I thought it would be.
I kneaded this dough with my hands and oh boy !!! it was quite a work out. I loved the aroma of freshly baked bread which made me wonder why I did not try baking bread before. I have to make this bread quite often now. Can’t wait to try the other breads in the book.
Recipe: You can find this recipe on the Hosts blog Someone’s in the Kitchen.

This was so much fun, wasn’t it? I don’t know why I was so afraid of bread before this! It was so simple. Your bread baked up beautifully, and you’re right, there’s nothing like smelling fresh bread baking in the oven. Absolutely magical!
It was surely fun …. !!!! Loved it :-)
Terrific looking loaves! You should consider joining French Friday’s with Dorie – super fun group, and great recipes. Around My French Table is a keeper. Dorie sure knows how to write a cookbook.
This was a perfect recipe to start this journey with. Glad it worked out so well for you.

I kneaded mine by hand too, but since I’m preggers I ran out of energy and had to get my husband to muscle it the rest of the way! :) Good thing he is around! Well, great job! I bet it feels great to have some delicious bread around that you made yourself!
Beautiful bread. Don’t know if I would have tried it if I hadn’t had my trusty Kitchen Aid. Glad you showed us it could be done. Maybe after I lift weights for a few more months. My husband doesn’t want me to buy bread anymore it loved this so much. I haven’t told him there may be Pumpernickel in our future.
I’m amazed you kneaded it by hand–that must have taken forever! They look good. :-)
Isn’t home-baked bread the best? It sounds like your hands got quite a workout!
It was the Best Nichole …. Had the last slice today … I think I will have to make some more over the weekend …. It was quite a workout for me .. But I always feel the need to get my hands into my dough when it come to kneading … I love the feeling :-D
